$21 (cart included), played on Friday, June 2008 at noon

My wife and I are all over Florida, Georgia, PA, NC, SC, VA playing golf. Our vacations are planned around golf.

We played Pines Golf Club, early afternoon Thursday with our daughter and her husband (we are visiting them). We were told no tee time was needed. I can see why, no players.

I paid $22.50 x 4 golfers with cart and tax, about what we pay for summer golf after 1pm in Florida. We were informed the green had been sanded, Ok it is summer and many of the southern courses are getting their summer maintenance.

All newly played courses are different and there for, usually fun. The 1st tee was bordered nicely by pines and a few oaks, an average length faded 190-230 yards tee shot places you well for an approach to this right dog leg hole. 2nd shot I hit a bit thin and low and expected to roll thru the green, it landed with minimal roll 15 ft or so from the hole. Lucky me. a birdie chance . Yeah right, who knows when the greens were cut last? We (wife and I) literally play 75 rounds of golf a year and have never once encounterd such long bermuda greens. It had to be 3/4 inch and wiry, my 15 footer rolled on track for 7ft, and this hitting it firmer than I would normally, par put also short.

The 2nd hole was the same. The rest of the holes were also in the same poor condition with inconsiderate attention to the greens. Two of the holes were indicative of no consideration to the golfer as they kept sprinklers on while we tried to play. We played 9 of the 18. That was enough of this bad joke,

I returned the cart and key, and after mentioning why, because of the poor conditions, the attendant sat down, stared and abruptly informed me that he could do nothing for me. I was not expecting anything, especially did not demand or expect a refund, but did tell him, as he sat there staring me down, I expected my $2 deposit back for the keys to 2 carts.

An apology or a rain check would have been nice, I would accepted the apology but would have refused the rain check for the Pines course. Why subject yourself to more bad golf. I might have taken a 9 hole at their other course The Cedars, which we played last year, found boring but at least the greens there were playable. Since neither was offered and I was out of $91 and the course was lousy, I just wish anyone who plans on playing any courses in the Griffin, Williamson, Thomaston area are aware of this course and employee attitude.

Oh yeah whats with these red colored softball field look sand bunkers, come on use sand!

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Better courses for less nearby, Worse than average course for the area
